An ambitious, high-performing AI company is looking for a self-driven Senior Python Engineer with strong hands-on and leadership skills to join a small, fast-moving team developing an AI-powered product. The team moves quickly, embraces AI throughout its development process, and builds LLM-powered features that customers rely on every day.
About the Role:
You’ll be a senior technical voice on the team:
- Building core backend services in Python
- Setting the bar for code quality
- Helping turn LLM prototypes into reliable production features
- You’ll own key components end to end, from design to production, and your work will have a direct impact on customers and the business.
What you’ll Do:
- Design, build and own Python backend services that power AI-driven product features
- Take LLM-based features from prototype to production: reliable, observable, cost-efficient and safe
- Lead by example on technical decisions, code reviews and engineering standards
- Mentor developers and help the team ship fast without sacrificing quality, including code produced with AI tools
- Work closely with product managers to shape requirements and find the simplest solution that works
- Contribute to the React frontend when needed
- Build for scale, stability and performance
What to bring:
- 7-8+ years of professional software development, with 6+ years of Python in production
- Strong experience building web services and APIs (Flask)
- Proven experience shipping LLM-powered features to production, including:
- Prompt design
- RAG
- Tool or function calling
- Evaluation
- Handling cost, latency and failure modes
- Daily, hands-on use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or similar), with a clear view on how to use them well
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers: code reviews, technical direction and raising the bar for a team
- Solid SQL and relational database experience
- Fluent English
